A easier alternative is a low-end 1911 with a threaded barrel,those are easily available for alot cheaper than having a gunsmith make you a custom barrel. Like.24/7 barrels in Millennium Pros. I met a customer service rep in a Taurus dealership who said a .45 cal 24/7 G1 4" barrel fit and functioned very well in a PT 145. We also tried fitting the 9mm 24/7 barrel into a PT 111 G2/3 and it was a perfect fit with about 3/4" of the barrel extending out the PT 111's slide up front. No problem racking it ...
