The county holds the contract for the animal shelter because law requires the county to provide shelter for stray and problem dogs. Previously the county paid operators $34,000 a year for those basic services and provided the facility, located at 1694 McTaggart Rd. in Madras, rent-free. Three Rivers expanded the operation to include pet adoption.

She is a little timid around bigger dogs at first but then warms up. She knows sit and wait, but as with all puppies working on consistency in her foster home. She would do best with an active family or another dog to play with ...
