Bound weapons are great, I don’t think I’d be able to take down a dragon without my bound bow. But for any other build, where you don’t have a self-imposed restriction on weapon use, bound weapons are vastly inferior. tl;dr Bound weapons are pretty good for a mage. Good main weapon early game.
